******************************************************************************** ***************************Team Benwell Short Test Report*********************** ******************************************************************************** Test Number: 015 Name: Ian Foxwell Chassis: NF502 chassis no. 1 Date: 22-04-02 Time: 20.20 Place: Travel lodge Gravesend Weather: Dry Object of test: Try out theory of lighter steering damper from last test Test new motor. ******************************************************************************** Modifications: Replaced steering damper with standard item, benwelled with 1mm silicon and 40wt oil Normal 3mm silicon + silicon grease ******************************************************************************** Results: Motor Good. Just as expected though. Slightly fiercer power delivery but appeared to have slightly less top end. Good enough for now though. Really wants a taller gear though Damper Good and also just as expected. Test slightly confused by cool tarmac leading to snappier break-aways under power as noted in prior cool tests + smooth tarmac which doesn’t work the damper the same. But no serious wiggles all test. Changes direction significantly quicker and less tendency to bounce back up when setting into a turn. Overall I liked it. Lesson learnt is probably to run as little damper as possible, even none at all, as long as the cat 2 wiggles don’t get to bad. Interestingly I was still running the steering springs as per Grahams suggested length and the steering didn’t feel as fierce as before. Could easily be me just getting used to it but I may run a short test at some point to see if for some strange reason the damper makes the steering more responsive. Cant believe it does but Ill check.
