******************************************************************************** ***************************Team Benwell Short Test Report*********************** ******************************************************************************** Test Number: 038 Name: Mark Bennett Chassis: BD4 03-002 Date: 06-03-03 Time: 11.30 Place: Elm Court Weather: Dry, Sunny and quite warm Object of test: Shake down new chassis ******************************************************************************** Modifications: Standard BD4 chassis ******************************************************************************** Results: Very good, bike felt very responsive but never nervous. Initial braking problems were dialed out on the transmitter. Bike turned evenly left and right and tracked in a nice straight line. some cat 2 wobbles never went away and on close inspection I found my rear shock absorber bottom mount has some play in it. Also the shock feels squelchy, - suspect split diapragm. Exiting a corner the back would drift nicely under medium to hard acceleration but if you nail it the back would just let go. The tyres have met their match. I think our chassis has found the limit of adhesion with these tyres, however, mine are a last years and are probably past their best. Conclusions: All in all this is the best bike I have ever ridden, however, it has to be ridden hard, you can't ride this bike slowly, but then who wants to race slowly :-) only problem area is the fairing grounds out where it touches the bottom of the chassis (motor mount area) I don't think I was running the back end too low so this is something we need to watch out for. I rode the bike hard for 7 or 8 minutes and only had 3 moments. One of which was when I hit a drain cover, the other two was where the back end let go under hard acceleration and I couldn't catch it. I inspected the bike when I arrived home and found no loose nuts/bolts/screws no broken parts and no wear anywhere. AWESOME
