******************************************************************************** ***************************Team Benwell Short Test Report*********************** ******************************************************************************** Test Number: 045 Name: Ian Foxwell Chassis: BD4 Prototype Date: 23-02-03 Time: 15.00 Place: Travel lodge Weather: Dry Object of test: Experiment with BD4 adjustments ******************************************************************************** Modifications: As test 44 HOWEVER - No body work or rider figure fitted but weight adjustment made to approximate weight and c of g difference ******************************************************************************** Results: Rear ride height any more than 20mm difference in swing arm height front to rear and the rear damper just cant handle it The most useful range is between swing arm level and front 10mm higher than rear. Didn’t have time to play with alternate positions Rake angle. Awesome. Because the chassis can handle the loads (Note all cat 1 wobbles are as a result of something loose or play in the chassis. BD4 only exhibits any when I leave the forks loose….. opps)it is very responsive to changes. It just gets more and more aggressive on turn in. Most useful range when swing arm is at level is between 0 and 2 turns out on adjuster. After that things start to get a bit hairy. Crash bars. We have got these just about perfect. I’ve run standard bars in the new BD4 standard location and they are spot on. The bike is starting to take a bit of a bashing. Combination of no bodywork to protect it and the rear shock unloading all the time, unable to handle the forces going through it as I make the handling more and more aggressive. Could be that a damper is the next thing to make…. and I know just what it needs :) Good news is that it is still undamaged and the carbon has never once shown any sign of stress, although my heart beat has been racing with some of these high sides… its going so fast now round these corners that when the damper cries enough it don’t half fly… Handling general. I ran an additional 150grms to allow for body work placed at steering servo height and it was perfect.... Yesterdays test was valid
